Newcomer Genesis secures its first World Endurance Championship pole with Mathys Jaubert leading the way at the Barcelona 6 Hours.
In a striking debut, Genesis clinched its maiden pole position in the World Endurance Championship at the Barcelona 6 Hours.
French driver Mathys Jaubert delivered two exceptional laps in the decisive 10-minute Hyperpole session, setting the pace in the #17 Genesis GMR-001 LMDh.
Jaubert’s initial lap of 1m30.329s was impressive, but he improved further, shaving more than a tenth of a second to solidify his pole position.
This performance marks a significant milestone for Genesis as a newcomer in the Hypercar class.
The result disrupted Toyota’s usual dominance, highlighting the competitive potential of the Genesis program.
With the race set for Sunday, all eyes will be on whether Genesis can convert this qualifying success into race-day performance.
This breakthrough adds a fresh dynamic to the WEC grid, promising an exciting contest in the Hypercar category as the season progresses.
