Kostecki and Hazelwood Snatch Stunning Bathurst 1000 Victory as Leaders Run Dry

In a thrilling conclusion to the Supercars Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama, Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood secured a remarkable victory for Ford and Dick Johnson Racing. The duo appeared out of contention for much of the race, which was marked by record pace and flawless conditions, with no safety cars interrupting the flow.

Up until lap 156 of the 161-lap race, the #17 Mustang was trailing the leaders, Anton De Pasquale and Lee Holdsworth, who had dominated the event. However, a critical fuel shortage forced the leading pair to slow dramatically, allowing Kostecki and Hazelwood to capitalize and take the lead.

This unexpected turn of events underscored the unpredictable nature of endurance racing at Mount Panorama, where strategy and timing can overturn even the most commanding leads. The victory adds a significant chapter to Dick Johnson Racing's storied history at Bathurst.
